Blaby To Support Charity Tractor Run - 19th December 2021

Council to support charity tractor run

Start your engines! Blaby District Council is joining the 200-strong charity vehicle display of tractors as it travels through the district in December.

Archer's Festive Tractor Run is returning to Blaby, Whetstone, Cosby and Countesthorpe on Sunday 19 December, as part of the route for the huge display of festively decorated vehicles to raise money for the Leicestershire MS Therapy Centre and East Midlands Air Ambulance.

The brainchild of Countesthorpe resident Ryan Archer, the Tractor Run is now in its third year, with last year's event seeing more than 200 tractors greet residents of South Leicestershire for charity.

This year Blaby District Council will be getting in the festive spirit and joining the run with four bin lorries and a tractor from the Council's fleet of vehicles. All of the vehicles taking part will be decked out in Christmas themed decorations.

Spectators will first see the tractors on Bill Crane Way, Lutterworth, just after 4pm and will slowly make its way through Broughton Astley before turning towards Cosby, arriving at around 5:15pm.

At around 5:30pm the vehicles should be in Whetstone before rolling into Blaby Town Centre by 5:45pm, and down through Countesthorpe for approximately 6:20pm before heading to Peatling Magna and back to the centre of Lutterworth. The event can last up to 45 minutes for those standing and watching the run, with lots of vehicles to see.

Please note all times are approximate and will depend on traffic conditions, as well as the number of vehicles taking part.

Councillor Nigel Grundy, Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhood Services, said: "We are delighted to be joining this year's Tractor Run. The event has raised tens of thousands of pounds for a fantastic cause and is hugely popular with families.

"We're looking forward to seeing everyone give our crews, who have volunteered their Sunday evening to drive the lorries, a big wave as we enjoy being part of the charity run."
